A protest march took place on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway near the Mawa end of the Padma Bridge in response to an attack on Shaharul Islam Isnath, the former vice-president of the Munshiganj District Chhatra Dal.
On Friday around noon, protesters under the banner of "Chhatra-Janata" (Students and General Public) halted Dhaka-bound vehicles for approximately 15 minutes. Padma Bridge North police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakir Hossain later intervened to restore normal traffic.
The OC confirmed that the protest was organized in response to the attack on Isnath, which occurred Thursday night in Dhaka’s Banasree area. A case has been filed, and discussions were held with Rampura Police Station regarding the incident.
Isnath, a key figure in the July-August mass uprising, was severely injured in the attack, according to sources. The incident took place around 11:30 pm, and Isnath is currently undergoing treatment. He is the son of Abdul Gaffar Fakir of North Medini Mandal village in Medini Mandal Union.
Prominent figures at the protest included Louhajong Upazila Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Rana Hossain Rony, North Medini Mandal BNP President Pallu Haji, and others such as Iyar Md Ruman, Sheikh Rakib, Umme Hani, Maruf Islam Imon, Hossain, Saddam, and Al-Amin.
