Religious Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain has highlighted the numerous challenges faced by the interim government since taking office, including acts of sabotage aimed at disrupting its progress.
Speaking at a memorial event for the late Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam on Friday at the Jameyat-ul-Ulum Madrasa grounds in Lalkhan Bazar, Chittagong, he condemned these acts, calling them unpatriotic and reaffirmed the government's resilience in overcoming such obstacles.
The adviser noted that nearly five months have passed since the government took charge. During this time, every month has seen some form of sabotage. The Secretariat has been besieged, communal discord has been incited, and attempts have been made to provoke conflicts between hill-tribes and Bengalis.
However, the government is overcoming all challenges and moving forward. There is no possibility of this government failing. Should it fail, it would plunge the nation into darkness. He urged everyone to remain united for the welfare of the country and the nation.
Issuing a stern warning to the saboteurs, the adviser further added that no leniency will be shown to those involved in sabotage. A high-powered investigative committee has already been formed regarding the fire at the Secretariat. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone proven guilty in the investigation.
Reflecting on the memory of Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam, the adviser said he was an exceptionally kind, humble, and straightforward individual. He had a deep affection for the madrasa. He donated 30 bighas of land for the establishment of the Jameyat-ul-Ulum Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa. This contribution will be remembered forever.
The adviser also remarked that Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam was a selfless patriot. He prayed for the eternal peace of Dr Jamal Nazrul’s soul and emphasized the importance of publishing a commemorative book in his honor.
The event was presided over by Mufti Muhammad Izharul Islam Chowdhury, the founder and director general of the Jameyat-ul-Ulum Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa, and inaugurated by Dr Shahadat Hossain of the Chittagong City Corporation. Special guests included Syed Reza Mir Mohammadi, Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy, and Dr Mohammad Yahia Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University.
Earlier, the adviser visited the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center in Kalpolok Residential Area, Chittagong metropolis. He was accompanied by his private secretary, Sadek Ahmad, and Borhan Uddin Mohammad Abu Ahsan, the divisional director of the Islamic Foundation Chittagong.
