Update : 12 Dec 2024, 12:14 PM

Ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes in Manikganj resumed on Thursday morning after seven and 10 hours of suspension, respectively, due to dense fog.

Nasir Chowdhury, deputy general manager (Aricha) at the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation, said the ferry services resumed at around 10:30am.

Previously, BIWTC authorities said ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River remained suspended from 3am and the Aricha-Kazirhat route from midnight.

Two ferries, Shahporan and Enayetpuri, got stuck and another two ferries, Hamidur Rahman and Krishani, were anchored mid-river.

Besides, four ferries at the Paturia terminal, six at Daulatdia and four more at Aricha were stuck with passengers and vehicles.

Over 300 vehicles were stranded at four ferry ghats as the ferry service remained suspended since midnight.

Passengers stranded at the ferry ghats suffered in the bitter cold.
