The police had recovered the bodies of four family members in Bhairab Upazila, Kishoreganj, found on Tuesday afternoon in a rented house in the Rani Bazar area.

On Tuesday evening, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Maksudul Alam of Bhairab police station said, "At around 4:00pm on Tuesday, residents first informed us. When we arrived at the scene and broke open the door of the house, we found a man’s hanging body. We also found his wife’s throat-slit body, and on the bed, the lifeless bodies of their two children."

The OC further mentioned: "After preliminary investigation, we identified the victims. They are Jony Biswas, 30, the son of the late Gouranga Chandra Biswas from Anowarabad in Raipura, Narsingdi, his wife Nipa Rani Biswas, 26, and their two children, Kotha Biswas, 4, and Dhrubo Biswas 8). It is known that Nipa was seven months pregnant."

According to locals, Jony Biswas, a permanent resident of Narsingdi Sadar, had been living in a rented house in the Rani Bazar area of Bhairab for work.

He worked in a local workshop.

Initial speculation suggests that the children may have been strangled to death.

However, whether this is a case of murder or suicide will be determined after investigation.

The bodies have been sent for autopsy to the Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital morgue in Kishoreganj.
