Cargo loading, unloading, and transportation activities at Mongla port have returned to normal after a spell of bad weather caused by Cyclone Dana.
Commander Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan, the harbour master of the Mongla Port Authority, confirmed the matter on Friday.
"Yesterday (Thursday), heavy rain due to the cyclonic storm disrupted cargo handling on seven ships. But now, unloading operations from those ships are in full swing."
After Cyclone Dana struck Odisha, India, in the early hours of the day, the threat over the Sundarbans coastal region has diminished for now.
The residents of Mongla, adjacent to the Sundarbans coast, breathed a sigh of relief, free from fear.
The skies over Mongla port and the adjacent coast have been sunny since morning, with no rain or wind.
However, the Mongla seaport remains under local cautionary signal number 3.
Meanwhile, the weather office indicated that conditions might change as the day progresses, with a possibility of rain over the Mongla coast for another one or two days.
