A train engine and one front carriage of the Dhaka Commuter heading to Rajshahi derailed at Jamtail Railway Station in Sirajganj on Sunday evening, leading to a temporary suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Rajshahi route.
Ismail Hossain, the station master, confirmed to reporters that the train had just made a stop at the station when the derailment occurred.
No casualties were reported.
According to the station master, the derailment was caused by the train driver failing to heed a signal.
In response to the incident, train services have been halted, and a relief train is en route from Ishwardi to assist with the recovery operations.
The recovery of the derailed engine and carriage will take place after the arrival of the relief train.
