Mamunul Haque: Will not spare Ganabhaban, Bangabhaban if demands ignored

Asks interim government to amend all anti-Quran provisions in the laws

Update : 26 Sep 2024, 05:05 PM

Mamunul Haque, secretary general of Khelafat Majlis, has warned the interim government that they would destroy Ganabhaban, Bangabhaban if the Education Commission does not include representatives of Islamic scholars and educators.

“Remove those who are promoting homosexuality from the education commission. Include representatives of Islamic scholars and educators in the commission. This is not a request; it is our right,” he said during a rally in Jamalpur on Thursday.

“If our demands are still not heard, we will not leave Ganabhaban or Bangabhaban untouched,” he said.

He later urged the interim government to take the initiative to amend any anti-Quran provisions in the laws passed by the previous Awami League government.

“If any effort is made to include anti-Islamic, anti-Quranic, or anti-Sunnah provisions in new laws, there will be a new Karbala (where a famous war took place) at Shapla Chattar. We can extend our hand in friendship to many, but if anyone looks with the eyes of dominance, we are ready to gouge out those eyes,” he added.

Mamunul Haque added Narendra Modi and his allies have taken away voting rights in three consecutive national elections, exploiting the opportunity to back Sheikh Hasina’s authoritarian rule.

“Bangladesh’s people's rights and desires, their voting rights, have been trampled underfoot, all in the interest of serving India. They did not want to see an independent prime minister in Bangladesh; they wanted to install a chief minister instead,” he added.
