2, including ex-army officer, stabbed to death at S Alam power plant

They were preventing a theft at the power plant

At least two security personnel were killed while trying to prevent a theft at the SS Power Plant, a coal-based power station owned by the S Alam Group in Banshkhali upazila in Chittagong.

The incident took inside the power plant early Monday.

The deceased have been identified as retired army warrant officer Sarwar Alam, 51 and Rashed Jawardar, 22.

According to the police, two young men attempted to steal from the power plant early Monday morning. When the security personnel tried to apprehend them, the thieves stabbed them and fled. 

Severely injured, the two security personnel were rescued by locals and taken to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead.

Banshkhali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tofail Ahmed said that the deceased, Sarwar Alam, was the security In-charge, and Rashed Jawardar was a security guard at the coal power plant. 

Additional police have been deployed at the scene, and legal proceedings are underway.
