Since there has been no rain since Thursday afternoon, the flood situation in Khagrachhari has improved, with water receding from roads and homes on Friday, allowing people who were staying in shelters to start returning to their homes.
Many have begun cleaning their homes, but those whose homes were destroyed remain under the open sky, worried about where they will stay.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Army has come to the aid of the flood-affected people.
As they did in the past two days, on Friday, soldiers from the Khagrachhari Sadar Zone, Mahalchhari Zone, Dighinala Zone, Baghaichhari Zone, Longadu, and Marishya Zone provided food and clean water to the people.
Around 50,000 people are receiving this assistance. The rescue operations over the past two days and Friday's relief efforts were directly led by Brigadier General Sharif Md Aman Hasan, commander of the Khagrachhari Region.
Additionally, Khagrachhari District and Sessions Judge Abdullah Al Mamun has also extended food assistance to the flood victims.
He distributed dry food to more than a hundred families in the areas surrounding the city. He has announced that this initiative will continue.
The district and nine upazila administrations have also stepped in to help the flood-affected people.
They have distributed 412 tons of food aid across nine upazilas, three municipalities, and 38 unions. Cooked food is also being delivered to various affected areas.
Deputy Commissioner Md Shahiduzzaman said that assistance will be provided to rebuild the homes that were destroyed.
Moreover, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and various social and cultural organizations have also come forward to support the flood victims.
