Road communication between Thanchi upazila and the rest of Bandarban district was severed on Thursday due to a landslide.
A large portion of a hill collapsed onto the road in the Jibannagar area in the morning, disrupting access to the upazila.
Following the landslide, army and fire service personnel quickly arrived on the scene to clear the area.
However, many locals and travellers remain stranded, with vehicles stuck on both sides of the blocked road.
Purna Chandra Mutsuddi, assistant director of the Bandarban Fire Service, said: "We are working on the spot to remove the soil with the help of the army. Traffic movement in Thanchi will be normalized by removing the soil soon."
Meanwhile, more than 200 families in Naikhongchhari’s Ghumdum union have been stranded by flooding since Wednesday.
Ghumdum Union Parishad Chairman AKM Jahangir Aziz said many places of the union have been flooded due to incessant rains.
