The people of the northern region are returning to work after the Eid holiday, increasing traffic pressure on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway.

A total of 37,600 vehicles crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge in 24 hours, resulting in a toll collection of Tk29,294,550.

According to sources at Bangabandhu Bridge, normally 18,000 to 20,000 vehicles cross the bridge in 24 hours, but this number increases significantly during the Eid journey.

From Saturday midnight to Sunday midnight, 14,897 northbound vehicles crossed the bridge, generating a toll of Tk12,663,950.

Additionally, 22,703 vehicles headed towards Dhaka, contributing Tk16,630,600 in tolls.

Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, the executive engineer of the Bangabandhu Bridge Site Office, said that under normal circumstances, tolls are collected through 12 booths on both ends of the bridge. However, to facilitate smoother travel during Eid, toll collection was expanded to 18 booths with separate lanes for motorcycles on both ends.
