Workers of a ready-made garments (RMG) factory, who had blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Friday morning, called off their protest after being assured they would receive their overdue salaries.
They had blocked the highway demanding payment of overdue salaries of two months.
Currently, vehicles are moving along the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla, but at a slow pace.
Workers of the denim processing plant stated they were forced to stage a protest because the factory owners had not disbursed their overtime pay and salaries for the past two months.
This resulted in a traffic jam stretching at least 20 kilometers on both sides of the highway.
Ambulances carrying patients and other passengers have been severely affected.
Comilla Industrial Police Superintendent AKM Zahirul Islam stated that the Dhaka-bound lane is now clear of traffic jams. However, the Chittagong-bound lane is experiencing slow movement, which is expected to clear within an hour.
