Auto-fine system to start on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

Highway police urged passengers, transport owners, workers and other stakeholders to support the initiative

Update : 15 Aug 2026, 08:41 PM

The Highway Police will launch an “auto-fine system” on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway from August 18 to improve road safety and curb traffic violations.

The system will automatically detect violations such as speeding, illegal parking and driving against traffic using AI-powered cameras, the Highway Police said.

Additional DIG (Media) Muntasirul Islam disclosed the information on Saturday.

Once a violation is detected, case details will be sent by SMS to the registered vehicle owner, who can pay the fine through authorised mobile financial services such as bKash and Nagad.

Muntasirul Islam said the technology-based system would make traffic enforcement faster, more transparent and accurate while helping reduce road accidents and improve traffic discipline.

The Highway Police urged passengers, transport owners, workers’ leaders and other stakeholders to cooperate with the initiative.
