260 CCTV cameras installed in Madaripur

The police have installed 260 state-of-the-art closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at important places in Madaripur city.

Superintendent of Police Masud Alam inaugurated the initiative from his office on Wednesday.

The project has been implemented at a cost of Tk70 lakh, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.

Local people hope that, through this initiative, the district police will now be better equipped to curb criminal activities, including theft and robbery.

The cameras will also monitor the toll plaza on the Madaripur-Shariatpur Regional Highway. The cameras will be controlled directly from the office of the superintendent of police.

Masud Alam told the reporters that criminal activities are constantly increasing in the city. Police often find it difficult to track down criminals. These CCTV cameras are installed at important locations in the city to track them down.
