2 more KNF members sent to jail in Bandarban

  • Nine cases filed
  • Joint forces have so far detained 73 people

A Bandarban court sent two more Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) members to jail on suspicion of bank robbery and assault in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila.

They were sent to jail following the order of Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Mohammad Nazmul Hossain at 2:30pm on Wednesday.

The accused are Tyson Bom, 23, son of Lal Tuan Bom, and Bhan Khalian Bom, 37, son of Sankim Bom.

Bishwajit Singh, GRO of the court, said that in the case of bank robbery in Thanchi, two accused were produced in the court and they were sent to jail as per the order of the judge.

Court sub-inspector (SI) Payal Palit confirmed the information.

In this incident, nine cases were filed under various sections of the Special Powers Act, 1974 and the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009 in Ruma and Thanchi police stations of the district.

In the operation, the joint forces have so far detained 73 people including 20 women and sent 65 people to jail.
