Four people were killed and 10 others injured following a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a private car in Bogra Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
Among the victims, the three deceased were identified as Fain Hossain, joint secretary of Bogura district motor workers union,55, bus manager Hannan Miah, 44, and Chain Master Alagir Hossein, 42. Another unidentified person succumbed to his injuries in a hospital at noon
The accident occurred on Bogura-Naogaon highway in the Erulia Bazar area.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizan of Bogra Sadar police station confirmed the matter.
Police and eyewitnesses stated that Fain Hossain along with bus manager Hannan Mia and chain master Alamgir Hossain, were traveling towards Naogaon in the private car. Fain Hossain was driving the vehicle.
Around 10am, the car lost control due to a punctured tyre and collided with a bus from the opposite direction, leaving two dead on the spot and 12 other injured, said the police official.
Among the injured people, two succumbed to their injuries later.
The accident left the car fully smashed.
The accident created a long traffic tailback on Bogura-Naogaon.
Police seized the bus and private car.
An unnatural death case was filed.
