Four of the deceased are Babul Ahmed, 45; his wife Shila Akter, 35; their seven-year-old son Md Sadman; and autorickshaw driver Al Amin Hossain, 25. The rest of the victims could not be identified immediately.

The bodies were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Traffic on the road came to a halt for an hour following the accident.

The accident took place when an autorickshaw bound for the Tarapasha area from Dashtila hit another one bound for Dashtila, leaving Raju dead on the spot and six others injured, said the OC.

The two other injured people died on the way to the hospital.

In Jamalpur, two teenage boys were killed when their motorcycle hit a roadside tree in Shahbajpur Union in the afternoon.

The deceased are Kakon, 15, and Sinhad, 14.
