Police on Friday detained a man with deer meat from the Pathorghata upazila of Barguna district in the early hours of Friday.
Md Yunus, hailing from the Pathorghata upazila, was handed over to the police by the Forest Department.
Later, the man was sent to jail by the court of Magistrate Shantanu Kumar Mondal. The court also ordered the officials to bury the recovered venison.
Pathorghata Forest Division Range Officer Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter.
He said the Forest department conducted a special operation in the Hajirkhal area of Pathorghata. They stopped a motorcycle on the road and found the deer head along with venison.
In another incident, a deer found floating in the Bishkhali River on Tuesday was released into the forest in the presence of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ruknuzzaman Khan, and forest officials on Friday.
