Train communication between Chittagong and Dhaka remained suspended for a couple of hours on Wednesday morning following the derailment of a bogie in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
Sub-Inspector Amzad Hossain of Sitakunda Railway Police said a bogie of the Dhaka-bound Chattala Express coming from Chittagong Railway Station veered off the tracks at Siraj Bhuiyan intersection in Chittagong municipality at around 7am, disrupting rail communication.
However, the train communication on the Chittagong-bound line remained uninterrupted, he said.
Mozammel Hossain, station master of Sitakunda Railway Station, said a relief train rushed to the spot for the salvage operation.
