The United People's Democratic Party (UPDF) enforced a blockade in Khagrachhari on Monday, protesting the killing of four leaders of the organization.
In support of the blockade, the activists of the party picketed the streets by burning tyres in various places in Khagrachhari town.
Due to the blockade, all types of transportation services have been halted.
Night coaches, tourists and goods-laden vehicles leaving Dhaka entered Khagrachhari town around 9am.
According to the district police, they are on alert to avoid any untoward incident during the blockade. Security measures have been strengthened.
Earlier, on Sunday, the UPDF observed a general strike in Panchhari upazila of the district.
Four activists of UPDF were shot dead by miscreants in Ward 9 of Panchari upazila on December 11.
The attackers also abducted two UPDF activists at the time, who were later rescued.
