The Election Commission has decided to use helicopters to send electoral materials and manpower to six polling stations out of 182 polling stations of Bandarban-300 constituency in the 12th national parliamentary elections.
District Election Officer SM Shahadat Hossain said that helicopters will be used in these centres due to remoteness and lack of transportation system.
The total area of Bandarban district is 4479.02 square kilometers. Although it is the second largest district in the country in terms of area, there is only one constituency in Bandarban.
In this constituency, the number of voters has increased by 41,156.
Along with this, six more polling stations have been added there.
According to the latest information of the district election office, the total number of voters of seven upazilas is 288,583. Among them, 148, 944 are male voters and 139,446 female voters.

It is also known that out of the 182 polling stations in Bandarban, six centres in remote areas are 'helisorti', which means election equipment and election workers have to send to these six polling stations by helicopter.
Helicopters were used in 13 polling stations of the district in the 11th parliamentary elections, but this time helicopters will be used in six helisorti polling stations of Rowangchari, Ruma, Thanchi and Alikadam upazilas.
