Four Rohingyas have lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in multiple attacks in a span of 24 hours in Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.
Members of the separatist group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) carried out the attacks on Tuesday, said police.
Around 15 Arsa members attacked men affiliated with another Rohingya group, the Rohingya Solidarity Organization, late on Tuesday, Ukhiya police station OC Md Shamim Hossain said.
Four Rohingyas had sustained gunshot wounds in the attack, two of whom – Md Jobayer, 16, and Anwar Sadek, 17 – had succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital, the police officer added.
Shamim said the injured were receiving treatment at the Médecins Sans Frontières hospital.
On the same night, Abul Kashem, 47, who had been actively promoting peace in his camp and vocal against Arsa, was dragged out of his house and fatally shot multiple times, the police said.
Earlier in the day, Imam Hossain, 30, was shot dead reportedly by Arsa in a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.
A Bandarban court issued arrest warrants for Arsa chief Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi and 49 of his associates a couple of days ago, and the police and Rohingyas suspect that Arsa is orchestrating these murders to establish dominance in the camps and instil fear among the Rohingya population.
