An Indian couple was killed when a truck crashed into a private car at Taltala in Sadar upazila of Satkhira district on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 8am in front of the Satkhira camp of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The deceased were identified as Asim Kumar Biswas, 45 and his wife Chobi Biswas, 42, hailing from Siliguri in India’s West Bengal.
Confirming the matter Satkhira Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahidul Islam said that Asim was the deputy manager of Khulna-Mongla port rail line project. He was on his way to India through Bhomra land port.
Quoting witnesses, the OC said that the accident took place when the Khulna-bound truck hit the private car leaving the couple dead on the spot and the private car’s driver critically injured.
The injured driver Rafiqul Islam Sajib was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
