At least four people were killed and 15 were injured after a bus hit a pickup van in Mymensingh Sadar upazila early on Tuesday.
The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
The accident occurred when a Sherpur-bound bus of Faiyaz Enterprize from Dhaka hit a pickup van on the Mymensingh-Dhaka highway in the Shikarikanda area of the upazila at around 12:30am, leaving two passengers dead on the spot, said Shah Kamal Akanda, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station.
On receiving the information, police and firefighters rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and took them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where two more people succumbed to their injuries.
Police seized the vehicles involved, but their drivers managed to flee the scene, added the officer.
