This has led to unexpected flooding in certain areas, raising concerns about the heightened risk of landslides due to the ongoing precipitation.
On the other hand, due to the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, the movement of passenger vessels on five southern routes has been stopped.
In Rangamati, a landslide took place on the 16-kilometer stretch of the Marishya Dighinala road in the Baghaichari upazila on Sunday.
As a result, numerous vehicles became stranded on both sides of the road. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties.
In Chittagong, the district administration in the backdrop of heavy showers on Sunday started eviction of the residents of 800 unauthorized makeshift houses from the hillocks of nine risky hills in the city.
The eviction team also slashed the supply of electricity and water to the houses during the drive during heavy rain to avert possible loss of lives from landslides from Motizorna, Bijoynagar Zeel, Beltoligona, and Battali hill areas.
Two shelter centres were opened in different areas of the city in this regard.4
In Bandarban, at least two people have been injured in a landslide on Sunday.
Several houses were damaged in many areas of the district.
