After a long time, the tourist town of Bandarban has finally opened its doors for tourists.
Tourists were banned from entering three upazilas of the district since October 17, 2022 due to a joint operation by the security forces against militant organizations and the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in the border areas.
Now tourists can go to all upazilas except Rowangchhari. This information was revealed in a circular signed by District Magistrate Yasmin Parveen Tibriji on Friday.
It is said that in view of a letter from the Bandarban Cantonment on July 12, the ban on the travel of local and foreign tourists in Ruma and Thanchi upazilas has been withdrawn. However, before traveling to remote areas of the district, tourists must take proper precautions by collecting updated information regarding law and order from the upazila administration.
Parvez, manager of Hotel Hill View in Bandarban, said that most tourists travel to Thanchi and Ruma. Due to the lifting of restrictions in these two upazilas, the arrival of tourists in the district will increase again.
