At least three workers were killed and two others injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Boishamura area under Sarail upazila of the district early on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Miah, 35, Mahfuz Miah, 32, and Amzad, 30. All of them were brick kiln workers and residents of Shahbajpur village of the upazila.
When the auto-rickshaw carrying the three workers reached the Boishamura area, the vehicle collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction at around 5:30am, said Khatihata highway police Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Shahjalal Alam.
Three of the workers died on the spot. The injured were taken to Brahmanbaria Zila Sadar Hospital, the OC added.
