Narayanganj couple, two children suffer burn in home fire caused by gas leak

A man, his wife and their two children in Narayanganj suffered burn injuries in a home fire suspected to be caused by a leakage in the cooking gas cylinder. 

The incident was reported Monday midnight at the Araihajar upazila of the district.

The victims have been identified as Solaiman, 42, his wife Rima Akhter, 31, their son Mahid, 13 and Arash, 3. 

They were transferred to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka at 8:30am.

Solaiman’s cousin Yunus said the family lived in a one-storey flat, where they used gas cylinders to cook. Neighbors reported hearing a loud noise in the middle of the night. 

Bacchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost confirmed the matter saying the victims are being treated at the hospital. 

On Saturday, another four people were injured in a fire triggered by a leak in a cooking gas cylinder at a Narayanganj home.

The fire was reported at a fifth-floor flat of a building in Fatulla, said Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin of the Narayanganj Fire Service.

The victims were rushed to a local hospital before they were transferred to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
