A cow gave birth to a 7-legged calf on Thursday in the Feni district’s Chandrapur Madhyapara village, creating curiosity among local people.
Locals said that the cow raised for 10 years by Rupdhan Mia gave birth to a 7-legged calf on Thursday in the village under Daganbhuiyan upazila in the district, reports Bangla Tribune.
People from the neighborhood have gathered around the house to have a glance at the special calf, reports Bangla Tribune.
Rupdhan Mia said this is the cow’s fourth calf. After watching three extra legs on the back of the calf, they contacted a veterinarian at the local upazila veterinary hospital.
Rupadhan also said that the calf has not been drinking milk since birth.
Tareq Mahmud, a veterinary surgeon in the upazila said: "One of the staffs in the Department of Livestock Services has gather information about the calf. I have been informed about the matter through him.”
“There is a genetic defect involved. The three extra legs can be surgically removed once the calf is a bit healthier. In any case, his legs will not experience any problems even without surgery. However, the extra legs will eventually become ineffective," he added.
