Siraj Noor, the father of a construction worker, Sourav Ahmed, 25, who had died earlier on Wednesday, was losing consciousness again and again.
When he regained his senses, he said: “My son will not hug me anymore. He is lost forever. How will I survive now?”
He was crying sitting beside the morgue of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital as one of his colleagues was trying to console him.
The air in the morgue in the hospital became heavy with the lamentations of the families of the victims.
Siraj Mia also said as his son was supposed to work early in the morning, he fell asleep early after taking dinner.
“Who knew that would be the last time I would talk with my son, his last sleep? If I had known that my son would not come to me again, I would not have let him go to work. My son suffered a lot. He was the third of four brothers. Our family was dependent on his income.”
