Police recovered around Tk12,65,300 that was stolen from the vault of the Kochasahar branch of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district on Monday morning.
Following the confession of the bank's night guard, Jewel Mia, the money was recovered from his house and within the bank, said Gaibandha Superintendent of Police Md Kamal Hossain in a press briefing on Monday afternoon.
However, police could not recover around Tk1,79,000 yet.
A case has been filed at the Gobindaganj police station in relation to the incident, said Md Kamal Hossain adding that the police are further investigating to ascertain if any others were involved in this crime.
On Sunday night, miscreants broke into the bank's gate and locker locks, making off with nearly Tk14,45,000.
In relation to this incident, the police arrested six individuals, including some bank employees.
Later, during the interrogation, the night guard Jewel Mia admitted to being involved in the incident.
Based on the information he provided, the police recovered Tk12,65,300 hidden cleverly in the bank and from the guard's home.
