12th national polls: Bandarban AL picks Ushwe Sing as MP candidate

He has been elected six times consecutively from the constituency

Awami League (AL) has selected Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, the minister of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, as the party's candidate for the 300th parliamentary constituency, Bandarban, in the upcoming 12th national election.

The decision was made during an extended special meeting of the Bandarban district Awami League at the Arun Sarki Town Hall in Bandarban on Saturday night. 

When Bandarban Awami League President Kyaw Shwe Hla proposed MP Ushwe Sing as the sole candidate of the party, the decision was unanimously approved by all present.  

Bandarban Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Sadek Hossain Chowdhury said leaders and activists were directed to become more organized, keeping the upcoming election in mind. 

In addition, the meeting also decided to hold the district Awami League's council and convention after the 12th national election, he said.

For this purpose, the tenure of the current committee has been unanimously extended until the next council, he added. 

Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing has been elected MP six times consecutively from the Bandarban constituency.
