A man was killed by a wild elephant attack in Lama upazila of Bandarban on early Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Aktar Hossain, 38.
The incident took place in Phansiakhali Union Parishad of the upazila at around 2:30am.
Locals said Aktar went out at night after sensing the presence of a wild elephant. He was killed instantly on the spot by the elephant.
Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam of Lama police station said they have recovered the body from the spot, and legal action regarding the matter was underway.
Due to food shortages in some upazilas including Lama, wild elephants frequently enter the locality and attack residents, resulting in deaths and injuries.
