At least one person was killed, and six others were injured in an explosion that took place when workers were melting irons at a steel mill in Narayanganj's Rupganj.
The incident was reported at around 4pm at a factory called “RICL” on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Sankar, 40.
The injured are Md Jewel, 25, Rabbi, 35, Ibrahim, 35, Yasin, 35, Ayon, 20, and Alamgir, 33. They have been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.
According to the factory's Supervisor Harun-ur-Rashid, the workers were melting irons in the factory when the explosion took place.
“The melted iron spread everywhere and burnt at least seven workers,” he added.
The official also said some other workers may have been hurt during the incident, but their injuries are not severe.
A doctor at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery said all of the injured workers are in critical condition.
