A light rain drenched Rajshahi on Monday evening — offering residents of the city some relief from the scorching heat.
Matiur Rahman, a resident of Ranibazar said: "We finally got relief from the scorching heat as it rained after the boiling heat. This rain should last for a few days so that the heat of the soil will go away."
Asadul Islam, a farmer of Belda village said: "This rain will cause some damage in the boro fields where paddy is being harvested. But his paddy is not yet ripe, so this rain is a blessing for the farmers also. If it rains again after two days, it will be better."
This rain is not only a boon for mangoes and fruiting; Rather, the agriculturists think that it is protective.
Additional Director of Rajshahi Agriculture Extension Department Shamsul Wadud said: "This rain was much expected by the farmers. Due to the lack of rain for a long time, some problems were also created in the agriculture of this village. The mango pulp was falling. This rain is more beneficial for mango and boro paddy."
According to the Rajshahi Meteorological Office, Rajshahi received 4.2 millimeters of rain till 6pm.

Until April 21, the maximum temperature mercury remained at 42°C. At the same time, the mercury in the global temperature was also upward. After April 15, the overall temperature did not fall below 23°C.
In this, people suffered immensely with the highest temperature during the day and scorching heat at night.
Meanwhile, loadshedding increased the suffering amid heatwave.
And the highest temperature of the season was 42.6°C last April 17.
