A dispute during Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in Kishoreganj's Hossainpur has led to a clash between two groups, leaving one person dead and at least 35 others injured.
The incident took place around 6:30am on Saturday at an eidgah in the Birkatihari Morolbari area of Jinari union.
The deceased was Nazrul Islam, 38.
Hossainpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asaduzzaman Titu said the two groups engaged in a heated exchange due to previous enmity.
The argument later escalated into a violent clash between the two groups, resulting in one death and 35 injuries, said the OC.
Extra police forces were deployed in the area following the incident, he added.
Hossainpur Upazila Health Complex Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Tanveer Hasan Ziko said the injured received first aid.
“Among them, one severely injured person was referred to Kishoreganj General Hospital and two others to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital,” he added.
