As in previous years, five Eid prayers will be held in succession at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The first four congregations will take place at one-hour intervals, while the final congregation will be held 45 minutes after the fourth one, the Islamic Foundation announced through a press release on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, the first Eid congregation will be held at 7am, led by Baitul Mukarram Mosque's chief imam, Hafiz Mufti Mawlana Muhibbullahil Baqi. The retired muezzin, Hafiz Md Ataur Rahman, will serve as the mukabbir (prayer announcer).
The second congregation will take place at 8am, with senior imam Hafiz Mawlana Mizanur Rahman leading the prayer. Chief khadem (caretaker) Md Nasir Ullah will serve as the mukabbir.
The third congregation is scheduled for 9am and will be led by Dr Mawlana Mufti Waliur Rahman Khan, a muhaddis (scholar of Hadith) at the Islamic Foundation. Mosque caretaker Md Abdul Hadi will serve as the mukabbir for this session.
The fourth congregation will commence at 10am, with Dr Mushtaq Ahmad, editor of the Translation and Compilation Department at the Islamic Foundation, leading the prayer. Md Alauddin, a mosque caretaker, will serve as the mukabbir.
The fifth and final congregation will be held at 10:45am, led by Mufti Md Abdullah from the Islamic Foundation. Md Ruhul Amin, a mosque caretaker, will act as the mukabbir for this session.
Additionally, the press release stated that if any designated imam is unable to attend, Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Md Zakir Hossain will assume the role as a substitute imam.
