A Rohingya man was shot dead at Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar early Saturday.
Syed Alam, 60, was killed in Block D of Kutupalong camp No 8 around 1:15am, confirmed Ukhiya police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali.
Locals who witnessed the incident claimed Syed Alam, a night guard patrolling the area, was killed in a shootout between the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO).
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali said police presence has been increased in the camp since the incident.
Operations are underway to arrest the culprits, he added.
