Manikganj journalists demand repeal of Digital Security Act

They also demanded the unconditional release of the accused and detained journalists in different parts of the country held under the DSA

Various national dailies and electronic journalists working in Manikganj formed a human chain to demand the unconditional release of the accused and detained journalists under the Digital Security Act and the repeal of the Digital Security Act.

The human chain was formed around 11am at Manikganj Press Club Chattar.

Speakers at the human chain demanded the withdrawal of the case filed against Jugantar's Mahbubul Alam Lablu under the Digital Security Act and the unconditional release of the detained daily Prothom Alo's reporter Samsuzzaman Shams.

The speakers said that journalists were being implicated in false cases in various ways through the DSA.

Manikganj Press Club President Golam Charoar Chanu spoke at the human chain presided over by General Secretary Biplab Chakraborty.

Journalists from various print and electronic media of the district and upazila press club were present on the occasion.
