Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested nine members, including a training commander, of the militant group Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya during a drive in Bandaran's Tongkaboti Sadar upazila.

RAB-1, 11, and 15 conducted the joint drive and arrested them along with arms and explosives, he said.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB's legal and media wing, revealed the information in a press briefing on Monday.

The arrestees are training commander Didar Hossain alias Masum 25, Alamin Sardar 29, Sainun Raihan, 21, Tahiyat Chowdhury alias Pave, 19, Md Lokman Mia, 23, Md Imran Hossain, 35, Md Amir Hossain, 21, Md Ariful Rahman, 28, and Shamim Mia, 24.

RAB officials have also seized six local guns, one foreign gun, five-round cartridges, binoculars, swiss gear, and several pieces of electronic equipment.

With the latest arrests, 68 members of the new militant outfit have been arrested so far, Al Moin said.

The RAB official said that their operation would continue until they manage to capture all members of the militant organization Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and other separatist groups.

“Seventeen members of the armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) have been arrested so far,” the official said.

These arrests are not related to the attack on members of the army last Sunday, the RAB official said.
