The police have arrested a youth in Tangail's Kalihati upazila after he allegedly made derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the social media platform Facebook.
Limon, 22, son of Abdul Aziz, was taken into custody from his home in Utrail, Kokdahra union, said Kalihati police station Officer-in-Charge Mollah Azizur Rahman.
Limon reportedly posted derogatory remarks about the Prophet (PBUH) from a Facebook account named Khar Garh. As the post went viral, a tense situation was created in the village, where agitated locals beat him up and demanded his arrest and punishment.
Later, his father, Abdul Aziz, rescued him and took him home, saying there would be an arbitration after Jumma prayers.
After receiving the news, the OC brought him to the police station.
Legal action is under process in this regard, the OC added.
