The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has asked the court to take action against three people, including Rahima Begum's daughter Moriom Mannan, for setting up the fake kidnapping plot.
The PBI made the request while submitting the final investigation report of Khulna's Rahima Begum case to the court.
Inspector and Investigation Officer Md Abdul Mannan submitted the report to the Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, said Khulna PBI Superintendent of Police Syed Mushfiqur Rahman at a press conference on Monday.
He said Moriom plotted the fake kidnapping for a land. Rahima is the third wife of Abdul Mannan. Before sending Rahima Begum into hiding, Moriom sent her Tk1,000 in her Bkash account.
Also, when Rahima was travelling from Faridpur to Bandarban, Moriom sent her some clothes as well.
“Rahima first confessed to the matter, but then she tried to turn it around,” added the PBI official.
On February 7, PBI said that Moriom Mannan sent Rahima Begum into hiding at their Bashundhara home 25 days before the fake kidnapping incident.
Officials involved in the investigation said that Mariam had planned the drama of Rahima Begum's disappearance for many days. Basically, the plan was made to trap their neighbor over a land dispute.
Rahima, 55, “went missing” on August 27 from her house in Khulna city's Uttar Banikpara.
The next day, her daughter Aduri Akhter filed the case with the Daulatpur police station, accusing five people.
However, she was found unharmed on September 24, living as a guest at his former tenant Kuddus Molla's residence in Faridpur's Boalmari upazila.
On September 23, Mariam identified a body, recovered by police, as her mother's at Phulbari Police Station in Mymensingh.
