The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has found no truth in the allegations of embezzlement of Tk34.89 crore in the allotment of shops in Fulbaria City Supermarket 2 against former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sayeed Khokon and six others.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury accepted the investigation report on Wednesday and dismissed the case against Sayeed Khokon and the other six accused.

Delwar Hossain, the head of the traders-owners association of Fulbaria City Supermarket 2 in Dhaka's Gulistan, lodged the case at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam on December 29, 2020.

Yusuf Ali Sardar, the previous chief revenue officer of the city corporation, Md Mazed, its former deputy assistant engineer, and their assistants Kamrul Hasan, Helena Akter, Atiqur Rahman Swapan and Md Walid were also accused.

The case statement said that Khokon, along with the six other accused, plotted to construct and allocate shops in violation of the principal design of Fulbaria City Supermarket 2.

Although the primary design of Fulbaria Supermarket 2 accommodated 2,300 shops, an additional 911 shops were unlawfully established at various points in time.

On December 8 of the same year, the DSCC initiated an operation to dismantle all 911 illegally established shops.
