Five people were killed in a three-way collision between a microbus, a truck and a pickup van in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj early Saturday.
The accident took place on Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 4am on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Salam, Atiqur Rahman Shihab, microbus driver Chadir Ali, Sadia Akhter and a child.
Jasim Uddin, sub-inspector (SI) of Shaistaganj Highway police station, said there has been thick fog on the road since the previous night.
Two passengers and the driver of the microbus died on the spot, he added.
Five people were injured in the accident.
Shaistaganj highway police went to the spot on receiving the information and recovered the bodies, he said.
The injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where two people succumbed to their injuries.
