Sixty-five-year-old Moktadir Mawla Dulal, who uses crutches to walk, has come all the way from Sandwip to Chittagong city just to get a glimpse of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Even his paralyzed legs could not stop him from attending the Awami League's rally on Chittagong's Polo Ground on Sunday, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to give a speech in the afternoon.

“I live in ward No 1 of Musapur union in Sandwip. I came to express my gratitude to the prime minister for all the development work in Sandwip,” said Dulal.

“The development that has taken place in Sandwip during the Awami League's rule did not happen under any previous governments,” he added.

Dulal said he had come with the help of Mahfuzur Rahman Mita, the MP from Chittagong-3 (Sandwip).

He left Sandwip on Saturday night and arrived at the venue at 9am on Sunday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Chittagong on Sunday morning.

She will address the rally at 3pm, according to party leaders.

At the rally, the prime minister will inaugurate 30 projects and lay the foundation stones of four others in Chittagong.

Sheikh Hasina last addressed an Awami League rally in the port city on March 28, 2012, at the same venue.
