The 22nd edition of Fifa World Cup kicks off in Qatar on Sunday. With the commencement of the World Cup, Bangladeshi fans of the arch-rivals Brazil-Argentina fought in various competitions.
In Betagi upazila of Barguna, supporters of Argentina made a 302 feet long flag and placed it in the town while Brazil fans have made a 500 feet long flag to compete with them.
Brazil fans made the flag and placed it at the bus stand area of Betagi municipality on Saturday. Since then, people from the surrounding area have been flocking to see this long flag.
In this regard, Betagi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Suhrid Salehin said that the supporters of both teams have placed flags in the upazila parishad area.
“We will take down both the flags if there is any disturbance caused by it. There is no room for chaos around the World Cup,” he added.
Azizul Islam, who came to see the flag, said a few days ago, the supporters of Argentina placed a 302-foot long flag. To defeat that Brazil fans made a 500-foot-long flag and placed that in the town.
Another person named Rowshan Islam said: “I heard that the Argentinean fans are now planning to do something different.”
Shariful Islam, the maker of the flag, said that the local Argentina supporters displayed the 302 feet flag. Following that, Brazil fans have taken initiative to display the 500 feet long flag.
Meanwhile, a supporter of Argentina named Towfiq Munna said: “Brazilian fans made a flag after seeing ours. This competition is just for fun.”
Hakimul, a fan of Brazil, said: “We will all enjoy this World Cup together.”
