Argentina supporters created a stir on Wednesday by hanging a 3,000 foot long flag in Nandail, Mymensingh.

It is known that from Sunday to Wednesday afternoon, a huge flag has been hung across a kilometre of road from Nandail Chowrasta Bazar on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj Regional Highway to Nandail railway station.

With the help of the Nandail upazila Autorickshaw Traders Association of Mymensingh, the flag was created by Al Amin, Ashiq Bhuiyan, Emdadul Haque Bachon, Hafizul Islam Hafiz, and Fahim Bhuiyan. In addition to flying the flag, the association purchased projectors, screens, and DTH to broadcast the game for football fans.

The entrepreneurs said that a 3,000 foot long flag was made with 1,500 yards of cloth in six days at the tailor shop of Abdul Matin, a tailor in Nandail Road Bazar. Approximately Tk50,000 have been spent to make the flag.

Mosharrof Hossain Riad who came to see the flag, said: "As far as I know, no one has made such a big flag in Nandail yet. Nice to see the huge flag.”

Abdul Matin said: “It took me and my wife six days to sew the entire flag. Never sewed such a big flag in my life. I sewed it with interest because I love Argentina.”

Among the entrepreneurs, Ashik Bhuiyan said: “Since I was a young child, I have been an avid supporter of the Argentina national football team. We had intended to create a big flag for the Argentina team ever since the last World Cup. But I would have supported Bangladesh if it had taken part in the World Cup. We are hoping that Argentina will win the World Cup this time.”
