Coast Guard and Fire Service diving teams have recovered the bodies of four of the eight people who went missing after a sand-extraction dredger capsized in Mirsharai upazila of Chittagong because of tidal waves caused by Cyclone Sitrang.

They found the bodies of Imam Molla, Mahmud Molla and Zahid Bari on Wednesday morning.

The body of another worker, Al Amin, was recovered on Tuesday night.

Four others were still missing, said Mirsarai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Minhajur Rahman said.

Fire Service official Imam Hossain Patwari said efforts were on to recover the rest of the bodies.

There were nine workers on the dredger, Saikat-2, when it capsized in the Sandwip Channel off the Mirsarai coast because of strong wind and waves during Cyclone Sitrang on Tuesday.

Salam, the only one who managed to swim to safety, said his eight coworkers had been trapped inside the dredger.

The four workers who are still missing are Tarek Molla, Shaheen Molla, Basar Howlader and Alam Sardar.
