A 14-year-old boy drowned while bathing in a pond at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased Sakibul Hasan was a class right student at Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College. He lived with his family at a house in Shantibagh.
Sakibul was found unconscious around 2pm and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors on duty declared him dead.
Sakibul had gone to the Rajarbagh Police Lines Pond with friends to bathe when he drowned. His friends later rescued him and rushed him to DMCH, said his father.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was kept in the hospital morgue and the matter was reported to the concerned police station.
