Crocodile attacking elderly woman in Faridpur remains untraced

A crocodile that bit an elderly woman in the Mansurabad area of North Channel under Faridpur Sadar Upazila on Saturday remains untraced.
Local people said they could not feel safe as anyone could be the next victim of the crocodile.
Villagers are currently staying guard around a canal throughout the day – suspecting that the predator might be roaming around in it.
Forest Department officials visited the village on Sunday.
The victim, Parul Begum, is currently undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur.
According to local sources, Parul Begum came out of the house after Fajr prayers on Saturday on hearing the sound of chickens. The crocodile was stuck in a fishing net in a water body.
When the woman went near the crocodile, it attacked her, biting her on her hands and feet. The crocodile then tried to drag her into the water. Hearing her screams, Parul's husband rushed to the spot and hit the crocodile with a bamboo. Later the crocodile went down into the canal.
Chairman of North Channel Union Parishad (UP) Mostakuzzaman Mostak confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Golam Kuddus Bhuiyan, a forest official, said that the matter had been brought to the notice of the Khulna Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division.
